After several years of no activity, Hazelwood West is bringing back its newspaper. Historically titled West Gazette, the newspaper will return electronically with articles posted regularly online.

The newspaper staff is made up of journalism students from West. Articles will be written by these students and posted on a website that will be accessible by the students. Ranging from sophomores to seniors, the staff will be exposed to new things as the newspaper develops. This will be a new learning experience for the class, and many students are excited to jump into bringing the newspaper back.

“I feel excited, but also nervous,” says West’s journalism teacher, Amanda Dressler. While she has been teaching English for many years, this is her first year teaching the journalism class.

The last official issue of the Gazette was printed in 2013.  Three years later, the newspaper will make its return.

Articles will be posted about news and activity of the school. Topics will cover student opinions, entertainment, sports, movie reviews, music reviews, and other interesting facts concerning the school. The staff will be expected to interview other students on their opinions and activity throughout the school year.

After three years of silence, students and staff can expect to see Hazelwood West High School’s West Gazette return in early 2017.
